Building Strong Employee Engagement

Within a fast-growing company like ServiceNow, ensuring that all employees are well-informed can be a daunting task. It's easy for internal messages to be overshadowed by pressing deadlines and heavy workloads.

When a new message or initiative needs to attract the attention of 20,000+ employees, our team gets tapped to create something unique. Personally, I love this challenge because it allows us to brainstorm and collaborate on ideas that work outside of our brand constraints. In most cases, humor gets the highest engagement. Check out some of my favorite projects below.

Some Ideas Deserve The Axe

The Customer & Industry Workflows team was on the brink of reaching an impressive milestone, a moment set to be celebrated company-wide. They approached our team with a request to craft something unique and memorable, with a special feature involving our President and Chief Operating Officer, CJ Desai.

Finding the story

Initially, the Customer and Industry Workflows team's future was uncertain—it was born during a period of rapid expansion when not every idea made the cut. We devised a pitch that featured an axe-wielding board member (portrayed by me) whose sole mission was to murder, I mean, eliminate bad ideas. The narrative was designed to highlight CJ Desai as the hero, stepping in to save the emerging team from being axed, showcasing his leadership and vision.

The project began with a brainstorming session, where we presented various ideas to the team, supported by AI-generated mood boards created using MidJourney. Once we settled on a concept, our writer developed the narrative, and I drew up a detailed storyboard to visualize the story's execution. We filmed the video with a compact crew over several days, accommodating our executive's busy schedule.

This video quickly became a favorite within the company and was selected to be showcased at our annual sales conference, captivating an audience of 6,000 attendees.

Don’t Get Phished

Like any other company, ServiceNow faces the threat of phishing attacks. To combat this, we launched a campaign aimed at increasing awareness about phishing, encouraging employees to pause and verify before clicking, effectively helping them avoid falling prey to such scams. A key element of our strategy was the creation of a catchy jingle, designed to make the message stick. And stick it did. The video, featuring our jingle, gained so much traction during Security Awareness Month that it was incorporated into our global security training program, mandatory for all employees within the organization.
